Work Hard, Play Hard
As an intern, I know how difficult it may be to get your foot in the door and still balance other parts of your life. I am a manager, a server and an intern. Not to mention, a sister, daughter and girlfriend. My life is pretty busy, but I have found many ways to keep myself organized. I'm here to share them with you here.
- Buy an Agenda - I know I'm not the only one who forgets events and birthdays. My agenda is my life saver. I check it everyday and write notes to ensure that I stay organized. I note everything from payday to Denver Style Magazine event details.
- Wear a Watch - For the ladies/gents who don't like to wear watches, get over it and buy one. I always need access to a clock. Sometimes, I'm in too much of a hurry to dig through my bag to find my phone. Taking a glance at my wrist is so much easier. Plus, it always completes an outfit.
- Don't be Afraid to Say No - With multiple jobs and weekly family functions, I have to prioritize. You can't be everywhere at once and people will understand. Just make sure you don't abandon your career goals and still make time for family. Find your median.
- Create Time for Yourself - This is the only way I remain sane. I try to workout once a day in order to let go of any stress from my daily life. Use whatever works for you, but make sure it's for YOU! Don't run errands for the whole family by yourself and call it good. Get yourself that bath bomb or movie you've been trying to watch. In the words of the wise, "Treat yo' self."
I hope my tips come in handy for all of you students, interns, hustlers and future-Beyonce's. Now, go get em'!
Sincerely, Brandy Suazo
