Teen Fashion Takeover: Soignee Elegant Attire

In case you are wondering, Soignee means well groomed in French. Sometimes you go into a blog post thinking, “I’m just gonna take a few photos, do a little write up and move on to the next thing on my “to-do list”….however, Soignee Elegant Attire took me completely by surprise! The owner, Diane Lessnau is so charming that I was glad that she let me in late on a Sunday afternoon to spend some one-on-one time with her.

Diane was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. Her mom Mary was her style mentor. Mary, now 87-years-old, is still never afraid to take her style to the next level. Mary was on her way to being one of the first women trained as a buyer for Stix, Baer and Fuller (they eventually became Dillards), but because of the era (late 50s early 60s), Mary had to settle for being a stylish Mom. Diane also worked for Stix, Baer and Fuller and shared her mom’s passion for clothes. Diane married, moved to Denver and had three children of her own (and seven grandchildren). In fact, in a few short weeks she is getting ready to marry off her youngest daughter.

About five years ago, Diane decided it was finally her time and she opened the first location of Soignee in Greenwood Village. A few years later she moved the store to its current location, 2565 W. Main St. in Littleton. Diane’s style is apparent all over the store as there as so many cute corners full of vintage books and furniture with a French provincial flare. She also travels to both coasts and works with designers to create one-of-a-kind dresses that are only carried at Soignee.

Diane is an expert at working with your body type and finding you the perfect dress. She also is very careful never to dress any girl in Denver in the same dress for the same occasion. She keeps very careful records on each dress she sells to ensure that you will be the only one stepping into the room in that perfect dress.

I also love how much fun she has with the girls who shop her store. For instance, if you purchase a dress from Soignee for Homecoming you will receive a $10 Starbucks cards as a thank you… now that’s my kinda gift! Also during prom season she holds “Cinderella Days" at her store. If you purchase your prom dress from Diane you get to attend her private Cinderella Day and for FREE you get your hair done, makeup applied (including false eyelashes), your nails painted and then get a 5×7 professional photo of yourself to remember your special night. Here I am modeling a few of Soignee’s dresses for potential homecoming looks.

The white strapless, hand embroidered, sweetheart neckline dress is $456 and would look perfect with what’s left of your summer tan.

The two-piece dress is all the rage this season, as long as you have been doing your sit-ups! Here are two that I really loved:

This hand-sewn appliqué red sequence number is pretty hot and a steal at $532, or what about a two piece, tulle grey skirt and sequence top for $453.

If you like the classic look, may I suggest this black and cream dress with black satin trim for $402, or a stunning red satin, strapless number with a rhinestone waist and pockets for your lipstick! All for $406.

One of my favorites was this baby blue strapless dress with rhinestone accents for only $205. In addition to dresses, Soignee also carries some great bling to add to your elegant evening like this rhinestone hand bracelet retailing for $85.
