Sparkle, Style, Shine!: How to Shop Black Friday & Cyber Monday like a Pro

How to Shop Black Friday & Cyber Monday like a Pro

Kristen Clough @sparklestyleshine

We all love a good sale, because let’s face it, who wants to pay full price for anything these days. Well, Black Friday is almost here and if you haven’t planned out you shopping genius strategy here are a few tips to help you ease into the season of sales!

  1. Make Friends with your Sales Managers and Associates.

The key to knowing when sales will occur and what might be included, is based on the communications you have with people in the know. Get to know your Sales Associates and Managers as they have the skinny on what’s happening in their particular store on Black Friday.  Who knows, they might have a little something that hasn’t been put on the floor yet, such as the Valentino Rockstud handbag below, that you get first dibs on.!

  1. Shop Stores Prior to Black Friday and make a list.

One of my biggest secrets, listen closely now, for getting what you want from your favorite store is shopping the night before Thanksgiving. Sometimes stores will start putting out special merchandise the Wednesday before Black Friday instead of after closing. And if there isn’t a Grinch around to swoop it all up you’ll have a game plan on where those must have items are located when you arrive on Black Friday.

  1. Cyber Monday all hinges on what you have pinned and saved in your cart.

Do you ever feel like a particular item you clicked on and lusted after is stalking you? Well, it is. You see those cookies on the websites you visit send emails saying, “Hey, those lovely Jason Wu oxfords are half off now!” And that’s the reason you add them to your cart, check out in record timing and do a happy dance on Cyber Monday. Don’t miss an item you love because you haven’t updated your credit card or paypal information. This is key for a smooth check out when timing is everything.

***Also be sure to check return policies for items and each website. Nothing sours a purchase worse than not being able to get you money back, (cough cough) TARGET.

  1. Discount Mainline Stores are less crowded on Black Friday.

Nordstrom Rack has to be one of my favorite and most shopped discount mainline stores. It offers great price ranges on some of the best brands such as Rag & Bone, Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, Valentino, Saint Laurent, Milly, Tory Burch, Vince and Christian Louboutin if you look frequently. Because many discount stores aren’t offering a limited amount of an item the traffic to them isn’t as crazy. Let’s not forget the Toys R Us pandemonium in the 80’s when Cabbage Patch kids were something people would go to blows over. This won’t happen in Nordstrom Rack, Neiman Marcus Last Call or Saks Of 5th.

  1. Cyber Monday starts at 12:01 grab a coffee and your laptop!

At the stroke of midnight those pumpkins turn into glass slippers and items you lusted after and pinned to your dream boards become affordable for once! Take the opportunity, while sugarplums dance in others heads, to purchase items that are in limited quantity on your wish list. You can always get some shuteye later after the tryptophan from that second turkey serving hits you. Late night shopping provides you with a better selection of items which would sell out instantly during waking hours.
