Intern Diaries: Right Place, Right Time

Sometimes I think about where I am in life, and feel pretty blown away by how fast time seems to be moving. I look at the mountains thinking, do I actually live here? I am currently 23 (I look about 18), living in Denver (thousands of miles away from my friends and family), working for a magazine (with a group of amazing crazy people I never would have met had I not moved), and to top it off, just married my high school sweetheart (a little hard to believe judging by how old I look). I feel like just yesterday I was preparing for the concept of college; and here I am today, a year out of college, miles away. Thinking about where I would have been if I had stayed in Indiana crosses my mind every now and then. Would I live in downtown Indianapolis? Would I get to see my friends every day? Would I have found a magazine to work for there? Who would I have met? Thinking about the experiences I am missing back home makes me value the opportunities I have come across here in Colorado. I am sure my experiences could have been great there, but here they are fantastic.

One of my greatest finds here was Denver Style Magazine. Wednesday has become my favorite day of the week. These days are spent around a long conference table full of laughter, stories and of course a little work every so often! I realize that if I was not present, these days would still happen each week without me. Every Wednesday we all could be somewhere else. But somehow, as fate would have it, every week we all find ourselves in the same place.

My DSM family and the experiences I have gained assure me that I am in the right place at the right time.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
