How to Bring Out Your Face's Natural and Radiant Glow

Although the rumor is that non-touring is a major trend I have noticed that as a makeup artist, highlighting and contouring isn't going anywhere. Who doesn't want their face to look more sculpted, lifted, and glowing? I'm sure that you've known that makeup is a way to enhance what your mama gave you. But did you know that there are spa and at home treatments that will enhance your natural contour and glow? If your skin has natural dimension and glow, then you can use less makeup to fake it.

I had the most amazing treatment from Jenny at I Heart Skin Denver. I was excited to try her new Thai sculpting facial. Who doesn't want to enhance their natural contour? Hello! Makeup artist dream! The Thai Wai Aromatherapy Sculpting massage technique, coupled with an eastern blend of acupressure and lymphatic drainage, gives "immediate results for an overall facial and brow lift. A warm herbal compress filled with a blend of organic botanicals including Thai ginger, lemongrass, dried apple leaf, dried plai leaf, lavender, geranium, dried bergamot fruit, ivy, patchouli and hibiscusis is used to soothe and nourish the facial muscles and delicate eye area."

Not only did the treatment feel and smell like a dream, but my skin felt instantly tightened and contoured. When I applied my makeup later in the day, only a little enhancement was needed. My natural contour was popping! This treatment will be available starting April 1st for $85. I recommend that you treat yo self!

To enhance my natural glow, Jenny customized a mask blend specific to my skin goals. More hydration and glow please! My skin was aglow not from makeup, but from within!

For at home maintenance, you can use moisturizer, serums, and masks to help your skin glow. But did you know that you can improve your natural contour and lift? The Nu Face facial device contours your skin & reduces wrinkles using micro current technology in just 5 minutes a day. Who knew you should tone those facial muscles too? Contour before you contour with Nu Face Trinity $325.

So now that you've treated your skin your makeup should be a breeze.

To enhance your skins contour, apply a makeup shade several shades deeper than your skin to the areas that you want to recede or minimize. You can use cream or powder it's totally up to you. But always opt for a cooler tone. (Think about the fact that shadows are more cool in undertone). Warm everything up with bronzer later as a finishing step. But, I'll save that for another post..

I love to use oval brushes from my makeup brush set to apply creamy colors for contouring and highlighting. They have the perfect texture to apply and blend effortlessly. $25 for the 10 piece set.

Highlighting enhances the features you would like the light to hit first. Highlighter can come in the form of powder, liquid, or cream. Choose shimmer, matte, or glossy- as long as you choose a tone that matches your natural undertone. If you are more fair or cool toned, stick to cool highlights in pink or silver. If your skin is more rich or warm in undertone, look for gold, peach, or bronze shades. I chose the the Sephora pro dimensional palette $42.

Don't forget to apply highlighter above and below your lips for a more full, pouty look. Always highlight under your brow bone as well for a brow lift.

I use my concealer in a triangle shape under the eyes to give a natural highlight and lift to the always tired looking under eye area.
