If you’ve ever been interested in yoga and wanted to try it, or wish you could practice more often, the Denver / Boulder area is the perfect place to be.
Fortunately for us, the Denver yoga community offers quite a few free yoga classes each week for people to experience and get their feet wet.
Here are a few of my top picks for studios and organizations hosting free yoga experiences worth telling your friends about.
CorePower Yoga – CorePower Yoga partners with popular spots like ViewHouse and Great Divide Brewery to host free yoga experiences that don't disappoint. The last few summers I've enjoyed Yoga on the Green at ViewHouse, which has in the past included a brunch deal with free bottomless mimosas with the purchase of brunch. This winter, CorePower and ViewHouse are hosting a free "Winter Glow Flow Silent Disco" series, featuring Sound Off Colorado and DJillE. (pictured) CorePower also frequently hosts free yoga classes at their studio locations across the Front Range.
PrAna – Between the PrAna stores in Boulder and Cherry Creek, there about 5-8 free yoga classes each week in their stores. One of my favorites at the Cherry Creek location is called “Wine Down Wednesday” co-hosted with Stapletom Yoga. After class, there’s wine, usually cheese and crackers, and participants get 25% off store purchases following the event.
Civic Center MOVES – Civic Center MOVES is a free fitness series that happens year-round in Civic Center Park or the McNichols building near downtown during winter months. Created by nonprofit Civic Center Conservancy, Civic Center MOVES offers 5 free fitness classes a week, including 2 free yoga classes with Fold Yoga and The River Power Vinyasa Yoga.
Kindness Yoga – Kindness Yoga offers several free yoga classes a week to the community across their 6 locations, from Capitol Hill to Broadway to Golden. The classes are part of their yoga teacher mentorship program that helps new yoga teachers gain practical experience and feedback from trained mentors. What’s also great about Kindness’ free yoga classes is that the classes are mostly Vinyasa Level 2 classes which are generally a good challenge.
Im’Unique Illustrating Union Yoga & Wellness Tour – Every couple of months Tyrone Beverly of Im’Unique organizes free yoga events with a very deliberate inclusive feel. Tyrone teaches people of all ages, backgrounds, and yoga experience his inspiring and empowering Poetic Flow at unique locations such as Mile High Stadium, the Denver Zoo, and the Denver Museum of Nature and Sciences.
Yoga Rocks the Park – During the summer months, look out for Yoga Rocks the Park on Sunday’s in Denver. Yoga Rocks the Park is a free yoga event series that offers live music, a vendor village with plenty of samples to go around, kids yoga, and often 30-minute workshops in things like Acro Yoga and meditation.
